We envision a more livable Little Rock for all.
Empowering Little Rock residents to participate in shaping the routes and destinations of our city.
How Our Little Rock Works
Introduction to People-Oriented Places
Our Little Rock curates events and elevates initiatives to raise awareness of existing assets the city has that offer people-oriented activities, like our public transit system, historic neighborhoods with middle housing, and bikable destinations. We also bring to light areas that have veered from being a place or route that enhance the city’s vitality. By introducing proven practices that create safer, more joyful, and resilient places for people, we help help reframe the potential of the future of that space.
Cultivate Effective Strong Town Advocates
Our Little Rock facilitates discussions and information sharing centered around how our city works and what incremental steps residents can take to shape transportation and land-use decisions. From these efforts emerge new partners and resources offered throughout the city, and guides for repeatable actions.
Encourage Human Habitat Initiatives
Our Little Rock helps provide “how to” opportunities for effective civic engagement around transportation choice and land-use policy within Little Rock. The organization also collaborates with partners to enable residents to participate in small actions that help make routes and destinations more safe and vibrant. Past projects include: street calming demonstrations, neighborhood walk audits, and creating and sharing resources for local advocacy and community-led initiatives.
Current Programs
Beyond the Divide: Reconnecting W 9th Street to the Hearts of Little Rock
In partnership with studioMAIN and the City of Little Rock, Beyond the Divide will demonstrate how to reconnect and revitalize Little Rock’s Historic W 9th Street Corridor, once a thriving Black cultural hub devastated by I-630’s construction.
Through community engagement, storytelling and temporary installations, studioMAIN, partners, and volunteers will build support for permanent improvements restoring connectivity to displaced communities. Programming, pop-up businesses, art and walkability measures will further increase foot traffic for residents and visitors to enjoy and celebrate the area.
This project is made possible by the Smart Growth America’s Community Connectors program.

About Us
Our Little Rock was founded in 2023 by a group of livability advocates who were seeing an unsettling connection between local socio-economic issues and the city’s transportation and land-use policies and practices.
We recognized that there were many in Little Rock living car-free, aging in place, and/or facing transportation or housing insecurity due to income, age, and/or abilities. As we further ventured into this space, we connected with other concerned citizens who were themselves, and/or were seeing their neighbors, struggling to thrive in Little Rock. We were inspired to shift the narrative.
Our Little Rock was created to offer education and advocacy for human-scaled urban design and enable residents throughout Little Rock to live in affordable, right-sized homes, and move about independently to socialize, get to/from work, and access their day-to-day needs.
