We envision a more livable Little Rock for all.

Empowering Little Rock residents to participate in shaping the routes and destinations of our city.

We are a nonprofit on a mission to strengthen civic engagement for people-oriented places through education, advocacy, and resources.

How Our Little Rock Works

Introduction to People-Oriented Places

Our Little Rock highlights the people-friendly assets our city already has, like public transit, walkable historic neighborhoods, and bike-friendly destinations, while also spotlighting places that have lost their vibrancy. Using proven placemaking practices, we help reimagine these spaces to be safer, more joyful, and more resilient.

Cultivate Effective Strong Town Advocates

Our Little Rock hosts conversations and shares information about how our city works and what small, practical steps residents can take to influence transportation and land-use decisions. These efforts help connect people to new partners and resources across the city, and produce guides that others can follow to take similar action.

Encourage Human Habitat Initiatives

Our Little Rock offers “how to” opportunities for effective civic engagement on transportation and land-use decisions in the city. We also partner with local organizations to help residents take small actions that make streets and destinations safer and more vibrant. Past projects include street-calming demonstrations, neighborhood walk audits, and resources for local advocacy and community-led initiatives.

An ADU for U: Little Rock ADU Design Competition

In partnership with AARP Arkansas,
Our Little Rock is excited to announce that we are holding an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Design Competition to inspire creative, new housing designs that will give Little Rock residents more affordable, age-friendly housing choices!

ADU is another way of saying carriage house or garage apartment that we already have in the neighborhood. Submit an idea to win the design competition!

This project is made possible by AARP Arkansas.

About Us

Our Little Rock was founded in 2023 by a group of livability advocates who were seeing an unsettling connection between local socio-economic issues and the city’s transportation and land-use policies and practices.

We recognized that there were many in Little Rock living car-free, aging in place, and/or facing transportation or housing insecurity due to income, age, and/or abilities. As we further ventured into this space, we connected with other concerned citizens who were themselves, and/or were seeing their neighbors, struggling to thrive in Little Rock. We were inspired to shift the narrative.

Our Little Rock was created to offer education and advocacy for human-scaled urban design and enable residents throughout Little Rock to live in affordable, right-sized homes, and move about independently to socialize, get to/from work, and access their day-to-day needs.
