We envision a more livable Little Rock for all.

Empowering Little Rock residents to participate in shaping the routes and destinations of our city.

We are a nonprofit on a mission to strengthen civic engagement for people-oriented places through education, advocacy, and resources.

How Our Little Rock Works

Introduction to People-Oriented Places

Our Little Rock curates events, video screenings, and content to introduce proven practices that create safer, more joyful, and resilient places for people.

Cultivate Effective Strong Town Advocates

Our Little Rock facilitates discussions and information sharing centered around how our city works and what incremental steps residents can take to shape transportation and land-use decisions.

Encourage Human Habitat Initiatives

Our Little Rock collaborates with partners to enable residents to participate in small actions. Past projects include: street calming demonstrations, neighborhood walk audits, and sharing resources for local advocacy and community-led initiatives.

Our Origin Story

Our Little Rock was founded in 2023 by a group of livability advocates who were seeing an unsettling connection between local socio-economic issues and the city’s transportation and land-use policies and practices.

Each person brought a different perspective of people living in the city — living car-free, aging in place, and/or facing transportation insecurity due to income, age, or abilities. As we further ventured into this space, we connected with other concerned citizens who were themselves, and/or were seeing their neighbors, struggling to thrive in Little Rock. We were inspired to shift the narrative.

Our Little Rock was created to offer education and advocacy for human-scaled urban design and enable residents throughout Little Rock to live in affordable, right-sized homes, and move about independently to socialize, get to/from work, and access their day-to-day needs.

Strong Towns Local-Motive Tour: Get the tools you need to take action and make your community more economically resilient. From changing outdated parking laws to getting kids to school more safely—each of the tour stops provides participants with the tools and inspiration they need to get started building strong towns right now!

Each stop features:

  • An opportunity to socialize with people in Little Rock who want to take a proactive role in strengthening our city.
  • An engaging presentation on a specific topic with a Strong Towns staff member and a special guest who has extensive experience taking action in this field.
  • A facilitated discussion and Q&A with local special guests to better understand this topic in the context of Little Rock.
  • A take-home “Action Guide” you can use right now in your community.

Community Conversations: On the last Wednesday of the month, Our Little Rock creates a space for peer-to-peer learning, network building, and uncovering incremental local steps to make our city safer, more joyful, and a place we can all be proud to call home. No cost to participate and Stone Throw’s beers are all $1 off.

NOTE: We interrupt our normal programming to host the 2024 Local-Motive Tour from Sept – Nov 2024. Community Conversation meet-ups will continue in January 2025.
